Into The Light of Day...

Finally the boat is ready to move out of the shop. The building jig was raised enough to slide a furniture moving dolly under each corner to move the boat out to the large door of the shop. A chain fall was rigged at the door to lift the bow and a hydraulic hoist was positioned at the stern.

My friend Russ McComb was a great help

The boat was lifted enough to remove the building jig.

The trailer was rolled under the boat and the boat was lowered onto the trailer.

Cockpit and deck will be painted with International Perfection Med white. Here is coat one
of three in the cockpit rolled on and tipped with a brush by Eric Jolley. Bluish tinge is from tarp above.
This is the keel trunk deck plate with 3 coats of Perfection
and Kiwi Grip no skid

Deck Hardware Prep...

All deck hardware is mounted on 1/8" G-10 Garolite plates above and
below the deck. G-10 is a glass-based phenolic that is strong,
stiff, and has high impact and compressive strength. In this photo, the
light green plate under the black organizer is G-10 Garolite.

The running backstays come forward through a tube to a turning block,
then into a clutch and then on to a winch.
The turning block and the clutch are
mounted on a plywood plinth
to insure the correct angles to feed into the winch.

The plywood plinth is glued to the deck in the proper position.
The plywood plinth is covered with two layers of carbon cloth,
one layer of glass cloth then vacuum bagged.

Ready for fairing

Trailer Update...

Eric's son Joe gluing reinforcement to forward trailer bunk.
Forward bunk dry fitted into welded trailer mount. Mounts will be attached to trailer with U bolts
which will allow for some adjustment. After diagonal side braces are added, the metal
parts will be sent off to be hot dip galvanized.

Keel bulb will rest on this plate.

Trailer with all bunks dry mounted. Rear bunks will be separated an additional foot or so.
